Fiber needs water to work properly

    • Herbal teas: Chamomile, ginger, peppermint
    • Warm liquids: Can stimulate bowel movements in the morning
    • Prune juice: Natural laxative effect (4-8 oz daily)
    • Without enough water, fiber can actually make constipation worse!

    Fiber Supplements

    When diet alone isn't enough

If you can't get enough fiber from food, supplements can help:

    • Psyllium husk (Metamucil): Most recommended, 1-2 tsp daily
    • Methylcellulose (Citrucel): Less gas than psyllium
    • Wheat dextrin (Benefiber): Dissolves completely, tasteless
    • Inulin: Prebiotic fiber that feeds good gut bacteria
